Professor Raed Abdelrahim earned a PhD in Islamic Medieval Literature from the University of Jordan (2001) and has three decades of experience in Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language (TAFL). He has presented at numerous local, regional and international conferences, and his publications span Medieval Islamic literature, Andalusian literature, classical Arabic literary criticism, Islamic history and TAFL theory and practice. At Al-Najah National University (Palestine), he founded the Arabic for Non-Native Speakers Programme, directing it for 13 years. He designed the TAFL Minor, co-developed the TAFL Master’s and co-designed the PhD in Arabic Language and Literature. He also served multiple terms as Head of the Arabic for Non-Native Speakers Department. He co-founded the International Arabic Proficiency Exam, recognised by the Greek Parliament.
